Guest of Honour: Liz Williams
Liz Williams is a British writer of both science fiction and fantasy. She holds a PhD in the philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge. As well as teaching creative writing, she has for more than two decades been involved in running the Milford SF Writers’ Workshop. She was co-director of the Cat and Cauldron witchcraft shop in Glastonbury, UK, until its closure in 2020.
Her novels The Ghost Sister (2001), Empire of Bones (2002) and Banner of Souls (2004) were all nominated for the Philip K Dick Award. Banner of Souls was also shortlisted for the Arthur C Clarke Award. Many of her titles have been nominated for BSFA or Locus awards, or appeared in the New York Times ‘best of the year’ listings.
Most recently she has found success with her Fallow Sisters series – Comet Weather (2020), Blackthorn Winter (2021), Embertide (2022) and Salt on the Midnight Fire (2023) – published by NewCon Press. She has also published non-fiction works, notably Miracles of Our Own Making (2020) a historical overview of British paganism.
