Programme
As well as items featuring our fabulous Guest of Honour and Day Guests, we'll have presentations from Satellite members on topics as diverse as the Soviet Space Dogs, the Science of Chilli, and the Vikings in Scotland.
Panel items will focus on literature, media science fiction, space science, fandom and publishing. We’ll consider the influence of folklore and mythology on our genre, discuss the Artemis missions to the Moon, look back over 60 years of Star Trek, and reflect on the legacy of the Glasgow Worldcons. There will also be author readings, book launches, and workshops.
No Satellite would be complete without a good deal of fun and games! We’ll Defend the Indefensible, revisit the Adventure Game, and debate which invention humankind might have been better off without, as well as hosting some Satellite stalwarts: Quark’s Bar Challenge and (appropriately enough) Finding Uranus!
Get your dancing shoes on for the Jiggers Ceilidh Band, who’ll be performing on Friday evening thanks to generous sponsorship from the Glasgow 2024 WorldCon. Saturday sees the return of our Event Horizon-style evening of author readings (and much more) followed by a sing-along/karaoke. Finally, join us on Sunday evening for the traditional Dead Laika (Dog!) Party and fiendish Pub Satellite Pub Quiz.
Things to Bring
Please remember your dancing shoes for Friday’s ceilidh, loose comfortable clothing if you want to take part in the Qi Gong workshop, your favourite poem for the Poetry Circle, and running kit if you fancy the Fun Run. Finally, don’t forget that Saturday is Hall Costume Day. We look forward to seeing your stunning creations!
